Motorcycling in B.C.

You

are thinking about riding a motorcycle in B.C. and have no clue where to begin. Let me share my two cents on how I got to take on one of the best hobbies out there.

First

find out what type of rider you want to be: street, sport, cruiser, adventure, etc. I’ve done a fair share of watching Youtube videos of different type of motorcycles and styles.

Try

on safety equipment at your local motorcycle dealership: helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, shoes. While you’re there, sit on your most desired motorcycle before you decide to go all-in.

After you browsed through your preferred brand of riding gear and motorcycles, it is now time to commit to the next step and sign-up with a riding school.

  • Street

Blend in with nature, urban city, highways, and windy roads altogether.
  • Sport

All about that throttle control, lean angle, and keeping your elbow down.
  • Cruiser

You love the deep rumble of a V-Twin and lookin’ badass.
  • Adventure

This class speaks for itself. Go out there and explore.
  • Café Racer

Hang outs at a café and race to the next coffee shop.

It's not the destination, it's the ride

Things to consider

Driving Schools

I would highly recommend utilizing rider training school’s offer to provide their motorcycle. It is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and get to know the basics.

Insurance

I would recommend looking at this chart for costs associated with engine displacement (cc) of your desired motorcycle.

Maintenance

Maintenance isn’t cheap. Try to do your own oil changes and check-out your manufacturer’s dealership to do required maintenance on schedule. Youtube is always available :)
